Last week, I talked a bit about how we’re amending our clay soil using compost. I wish I made as much compost myself as I need every year – and I’m envious of Charles Dowding’s amazing compost output. But that just isn’t what we can do right now, and that’s ok!
When you can’t make your own compost, and don’t have a place to buy it by the dump-load from a local municipality, your other options are to buy it in bags (we buy it in a yard-bag since we have a tractor to unload it), OR you may want to check out Make Soil’s website! I heard about Make Soil on Clubhouse a while back and loved the idea behind it.
Enter, Make Soil:
Make Soil is an awesome community-based website where you can sign up to be a Make Soil drop zone to make compost, and also be a place where people can arrange to get compost. You can also find a place near you to drop off your compost-able materials for your household to contribute to a compost pile near you! Find out about all the ways you can get involved by clicking here.
I am so excited to see this website grow and I hope you’re lucky enough to have a spot near you. If you don’t, consider becoming a new green dot on this map.
Now, get out in the garden and get your hands dirty!
